Les Bleues

I am still reeling from the effects of my utter disappointment of the other night’s match – France vs Italy. Before the match at 8pm (2am Manila time), the whole of France had been in a festive atmosphere. Giant screens have been put up in squares (the Phil version of plazas) as well as in most restaurants and bars for people to watch and cheer together. Everybody from toddlers to old-age, men and women, joined together to show their support for “Les Bleues”. They came in their blue sporting outfits, bodies painted with the 3 colours of the French flag, waving the French flag from their houses, cars and even draped them over their bodies, cars blowing their horns and replicas of the World Cup trophy being waved from moving cars. But alas! It was never meant to be….But life goes on
